- BSA Number Data. VIN #s BSA Unit Twins, 19 Eng./Frame 1963 Eng./Frame. For the models produced after 1969 a new coding system (numbers) was introduced.

- Note that the serial number information below is fragmentary and incomplete, and many bikes have proven to be much newer than the serial numbers would suggest. It appears that Raleigh recycled many of the older serial numbers in later years, so there are lots of bikes from the 60s and 70s that have serial numbers that would suggest much greater.

Selling this BSA WESTCOAST mountain bike. 20 inch frame, 24 inch wheels, 15 speed. Serial Number is 53845117. Bought new and had it for over 20 years, but due to dodgy knee no longer able to get out and about on it. Only ever used on road surfaces. BSA used a system of letters and numbers for yearly identification of their machines. This information combined with the yearly numbers below should help you identify the year and model of your machine. The Frame Numbers are alway stamped. If you find raised numbers, these are casting part numbers.

Look here. Can anyone help IDing a Raleigh my friend wants to buy. Has almost too decent a paint job, says nottingham on the rear fender and on the Headbadge. Painted made in Carlton on the drive bicycle upper down tube ladies bike remember. The serial 's are on the front of the price tube and read AA can't figure it out or is it a repro?

Hub says Serial is 21' Step-through bicycle It took me a long time to find it and without your chopper showing where it should be I would never have guessed there was a serial star in that location. Only with chopper and playing with the shadows with a bright LED light can the numbers be teased out.
